Obituary For Kenneth Scott Wardwell
A Celebration of Life for Kenneth “Ken” Wardwell, 79, of Sherman, who passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Dannel Funeral Home Chapel in Sherman. Pastor Chuck Dodd will officiate the service. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Dannel Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
Ken was born in Teague, Texas on February 1, 1945, to Delbert and Ludie Mae Wardwell. He was raised in Stamford, Texas and attended Stamford Schools. He moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where he lived with his former wife and 2 children, Darla and Scott Wardwell. Ken was employed by Safeway and worked as a meat cutter for over 20 years until the company closed in 1987. He then began working for Albertsons and retired in 2022. Ken met and married the love of his life, Lisa IronShell in 1993 in McKinney, Texas. They moved to Sherman in 1994 and raised 3 step sons, Michael, Charlie, and JJ Komorowski.
Ken enjoyed playing pool, hunting and fishing, and classic rock and roll, particularly Led Zeppelin. He loved his work and watching the boys play sports and attended most of their games. He loved the Dallas Cowboys. He was a hard worker, and his employees appreciated him as their manager. He will be missed.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Margie Stearns, 2 brothers, Willis Wardwell and Henry Lawrence Wardwell and his daughter, Darla Sue Wardwell. He is survived by his wife, Lisa IronShell Wardwell of Sherman; son, Scott Wardwell and wife Misty of Wichita Falls; 3 step sons: Michael Komorowski and wife Melanie of Ft. Worth, TX, Charlie Komorowski and wife Julie of Howe, TX, and JJ Komorowski of Sherman; granddaughter: Mikaylah Komorowski of Sherman, 2 grandsons, Kolbe Lappin and Cooper Komorowski of Howe; sisters, Charlotte Myher of Knollwood, Laura Cole and husband Corky of Golson, brother Clarence Wardwell and wife Linda of Snyder, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
