Kevin Reed Sterling Sr., age 65, of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away on July 2nd, 2024 in Pottsboro, Texas.

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Dannel Funeral Home located at 302 S. Walnut St, Sherman, TX 75090.

Kevin was born in Enid, Oklahoma to Majorie Inez Wyett and Thomas Reed Sterling on December 28, 1958. He went to school in Enid and later received his GED. Kevin was a truck driver in his early life before becoming a barber for over 40 years beginning with Kevin’s Kuts and Sterling Salon till Imperial Barbers became his home.

Kevin was a military veteran and proudly served in the US Marine Corp. He was an active member in a local bowling league with his son Kevin Jr. He loved playing his drums and served on various church bands, you could often hear him jamming out at home with friends and family; he enjoyed a good round of golf as much as the next guy and of course, could be found tinkering with his beloved Dodge truck more often than not. However, to sum up Kevin, his passion was through relationships. He often said, “I have to sit on both hands to keep from waving at everyone”. There isn’t a person he wouldn’t talk to and no life untouched that crossed his path.

Kevin is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Sterling, his mother, Margorie (Wyett) Cunningham and his step-father, Vernon Cunningham.

Kevin Reed Sterling Sr is survived by his children: Kevin Reed Sterling Jr., Alexis Sterling Akers and Step-son Jacob Clayton Irvin; Alexis’ spouse, Nathan Edward Akers; his siblings: Lonnie Howerton and Kay Jones; and grandchildren: Madison Marie Akers and Harper Channing Akers. Kevin was previously married to Carla Wiechman and Lisa Sterling.

A plaque memorial can be viewed near his parents, Vernon and Margie Cunningham located at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, Oklahoma.

Kevin was a member of my church in Sherman. I knew him well and just now saw this. Kevin loved God. I remember several conversations I had with him and he expressed his deep desire to serve the Lord. Sorry to hear of his passing but I know he is heaven.

Kevin gave me my very first haircut over 32 years ago. And he continued to cut my hair all the way up until he couldn't. He had been in my life just about as long as anyone else. I'm very grateful I was able to call him a friend. Between his jokes and his crazy stories, he could always keep you laughing. I've never met anyone else like him and I don't think I ever will. His friendliness, passion, overall energy will be sorely missed. I think I'll watch my first haircut video in his honor today. Rest in Peace, my friend!
