Obituary For Lanny Dean McIntyre

A memorial service for Lanny Dean McIntyre, 81, of Sherman, Texas, who passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Dannel Funeral Home. Pastor Ruben Henson will officiate. The family will greet friends at a reception following the service.

Lanny was born in Wayne, Michigan, on August 7, 1943, to James and Pauline McIntyre. He was the only son of four children and was raised in Wayne. Lanny came to Sherman in the early 60’s to live with his grandparents. He worked at Wilson N. Jones, Reed Tool Company, Hardwicke-Etter Company, and then finished his career at ConAgra as a miller after 32 years of service. He married the love of his life, Connie Magers, on July 28, 1969, in Sherman. They had two sons, Tad and Paul. Lanny had a work ethic like no other, and he worked long and hard his entire working career to provide for the number one thing in his life, which was his family. After retirement, Lanny enjoyed daily trips to the coffee shop where he enjoyed spending time with the politically diverse coffee group. He was always up for a spirited conversation regarding world issues, but above all, regardless of what side of the issue you were on, you were still his friend. He had many opinions and even more answers.

Prior to having children, Lanny had a boat, motorcycle, and a ‘57 Chevy hotrod. Once the children arrived, all the toys gradually went away, but he was a car enthusiast his entire life. His pride and joy for the last 30+ years was his 1993 Ford Flareside truck. When at home, Lanny enjoyed watching Mecum Auctions, and when not watching the car auctions he enjoyed watching anything related to history.

Lanny is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Billie McIntyre. He is survived by his wife, Connie; sons, Tad McIntyre of Howe, and Paul McIntyre of Pottsboro; two sisters, Joyce McIntyre Brown and husband Ronnie of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Teresa McIntyre McVey and husband Chuck of Marion, Michigan; four grandchildren, Shelby, Victoria, Max and Sara.
