Obituary For Larry Melton
Larry Wayne Melton, 62, of Whitewright, TX, passed from this life Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at his home. Family visitation is scheduled from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Sunday, December 27th, at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman. At other times, family members will be at 10888 FM 697 in Whitewright. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 29th, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright, TX, with Bro. Earl Chesser officiating. Earl and Larry were friends were many years and the family is honored to have Brother Earl be a part of Larry's services. Larry was born May 1, 1953, in Ely, Texas. He was the eleventh child of the late Johnny William Melton, Sr. and Mary Aline Melton. He was a graduate of Whitewright High School and held a journeyman plumbers license in the state of Texas. He was employed by Melton Plumbing in Sherman, Texas for over 30 years. Larry was a simple man who lived a modest life. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a well known face at the coffee shop in Whitewright, or at the store in Tom Bean. Larry had no children of his own, but he had a great love of all children. He had many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as great-great nieces and nephews. He loved them all and they all loved him. Larry was never too busy to take the time to play whatever game the kids wanted to play. He will be greatly missed by his family. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers, sister Jean Smith, brothers Bobby and James Melton, brothers-in-law Roy Smith and Kirk Jones, nephew Johnny Thompson and nieces Phyllis Thompson and Mallory Melton. He is survived by his brothers: Russell Melton and wife Linda, of Sherman, John Melton and wife Ginger, of Whitewright; sisters: Bonnie Woodworth and husband Lewis, of Anchorage, AK, Mary Souther and husband Gerald, of Luella, TX, Helen Jones, of Tom Bean, TX, Linda Callahan and husband Gerald, of McKinney, TX, Donna Hiserote and husband David, of McKinney and Kathy Barton and husband Ben, of Southmayd, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Larry to a children's charity or any charity of the donor's choice.
