Obituary For Laurie Ann Ponder
Laurie Ponder, 58, of Sherman, Texas passed away on Friday October 13, 2023. She was born May 31, 1965 to her loving parents Judy and Craig Rosenbower in Pequannock, New Jersey.
Laurie met her husband, David Ponder, while they were students at the University of Texas, where Laurie earned her Bachelors degree in Journalism. They were married in Arlington, Texas on September 12, 1992. Laurie and David began their careers in Dallas where Laurie started work as a writer for The Dallas Morning News, then at Methodist Medical Center and then establishing herself as a freelance writer through out the remainder of her career. In March of 1996, they welcomed their first child, Mason, and then in April 1999 they were blessed with the addition of their daughter, Kendall, to the family.
Laurie’s life was devoted to her children and did a wonderful job of raising them through their formative years. She could always be found at the school and church volunteering and be willing to serve in any capacity needed. Laurie was known for her hospitality and loved to cook and always made birthdays and holidays special for all involved. Laurie and David were actively involved at St Andrews United Methodist where they made friends for life in the Circles of Discovery Sunday school class and then at Prestonwood Baptist Church where she was involved with the student ministry and events at Prestonwood Christian Academy where both children attended. Laurie loved to be involved and serve her family and others by always being available to assist and share her gift of hospitality.
Laurie’s greatest joy was to watch her children launch successfully into life and marry spouses who she loved like her own children. She leaves this earth knowing that they are well on their way to carrying on her legacy.
She is survived by her husband, David Ponder and children Mason and wife Mackenna and Kendall and husband Cody Conway. Her brother C.J and his children Trace , Benjamin and Kasey Rosenbower. Her sister Jennifer and husband Chad Russell and children, Elijah Cox, Grace Cox and Cale Russell and Bailey Russell. Her brother Peter and wife Robyn and their children Max, Levi and Riley Rosenbower. She is preceded in death by her parents Craig and Judith Rosenbower.
