Obituaries

A graveside service for Linda Ann Hawkins Yowell, 76, of Sherman, Texas, will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at West Hill Cemetery, 10:00 AM. Rev. Arthur Horn and Rev. Mike Bates will officiate. Linda passed away peacefully on Monday, October 26, at Sherman Medical Center.

Linda was born on July 3, 1950, in New Boston, Texas to Bobbie and Bonnie Mae Hawkins. She was raised in Dekalb and Hooks and graduated, with honors, from Hooks High School in 1968. She received a scholarship from East Texas State University in Commerce, where she studied music and business, receiving an MBA in Business. She met the love of her life, Bill Yowell, as members of the ETSU Band. They married within months of meeting and have been married for over 57 years. Upon graduating, Linda taught business courses in Pottsboro High School and also Grayson County Junior College. She and Bill had three sons, David, Scott, and Brandon.

Linda loved her family and loved books of every subject imaginable. She was extremely intelligent and loved to talk about world history. She loved spending time with her grandkids and she will be greatly missed.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her step father, Bob Waldrum, and her brother, Jackie Hawkins. She is survived by her husband, Bill Yowell, of Sherman; three sons: David Yowell and wife Basmah of Irving, Texas, Scott Yowell and wife Jill of San Diego, California, and Brandon Yowell and fiancé, Ivey; four grandchildren: Muna, Manal, Mustafa, and Crosby.
