Obituary For Linda Collinsworth

Funeral services for Linda Carolyn Collinsworth, 69, of Denison, who passed away on Friday, January 5, after a lengthy battle with cancer, were held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 2:00pm in the Dannel Funeral Home Chapel in Sherman. The family greeted friends on Sunday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Rev. Bobby Hancock and Pastor Chris Lovejoy of Georgetown Baptist Church in Pottsboro conducted the service. Interment followed in Georgetown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marty Little, Gary Moore, Bill Gray, Hayden Bowen and Hunter Bowen. Linda was born on July 8, 1948, in Rogersville, Tennessee, to Clifford and Mary O'Dell Jones. Her father was serving in the U.S. Air Force and the family relocated several times during Linda's formative years. He retired after being stationed at Perrin Air Force Base and the family settled in Denison. Linda graduated from Denison High School in 1966. She met the love of her life, Scott Collinsworth, in 1976 while they both were attending Southeastern Oklahoma State University. They began dating and were eventually married in July of 1978. With a shared love for the outdoors and Lake Texoma in particular, they made camping, fishing and enjoying activities at the lake central to their lives. Scuba diving became a passion for both and they also took trips several times a year to exotic locations to dive. Linda herself logged over 300 dives in her life. With a love for shopping, Linda was known to her friends as a "Bling Girl" because of her fondness for jewelry. Linda also had a great work ethic. She was employed at Johnson and Johnson for over 22 years until the plant closed, and she then began working at Progress Rail. Linda loved animals of many kinds, including dogs, cats, and several different types of birds that she had as pets. Linda is survived by her husband, Scott; sister, Teresa Jones of Pottsboro; sister-in-law, Carmen Bowen of Denison; and special friend, Lorraine Jennings. As a wonderful wife, companion and friend, she will be greatly missed. You may sign the online guestbook at www.Dannelfuneralhome.com.

Teresa, I am so sorry to hear about your loss of a wonderful sister. My memories of her as you and I were teenagers and she had her own house next to you and your mom and dad. I so admired her and was a bit envious because you had a sister! I had a brother. I lost my brother Jackie a little over a year ago. Love, your child-hood friend, Connie ~ Connie Strattman, Pottsboro, Texas

Scott, We are so sorry for your loss. Linda was a good wife to you, and such a sweetheart. Her "cheesy charlies" that she used to make and bring up to Leonard's made such an impression on me, that when Penny and I got married I told her about them and she learned to make them! Miss you and hope to catch up soon. ~ Clint Cogburn, Van Buren, Arkansas
