Obituary For Lonna L. Hale

Lonna Hale, age 78, passed away on May 22, 2024 at Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas.

A service to celebrate the life of Lonna will be held at Dannel Funeral Home on Sunday, May 26th at 2:00pm.

Lonna was born in Grants Pass, Oregon to Norman and Minita Wilcox on November 28th, 1945. She was a devoted wife, mom, and grandma. Lonna was a military wife and stay-at-home mom. She loved country music, and some of our best memories are of Mom listening to country music classics like Loretta Lynn and Charley Pride on the reel to reel while she cleaned house. She loved to dance, mostly two-stepping but there was some square dancing back in the day. She wore the cutest square dance dresses, the puffy kind that swirled when she twirled. She even spent some time in a bowling league. She took a job in security at K-Mart in the late 1970’s, and eventually relocated to Sherman, TX. She met and married Alan Hale, the love of her life. They were a great team and built a life around family.

Lonna’s passion was gardening and crafting. But her biggest pride and joy was her children, her grandkids and her puppies. She cherished every moment and spoiled them all when she had the chance.

Lonna is preceded in death by her dad, Norman Wilcox, her mother, Minita Wilcox, and her daughter, Shirley Hamilton.

Lonna is survived by her husband, Alan Hale, her son Jimmy Vandever (Dara), her daughter Robyn Mitchell (Mark), son Jonathon (Rebekah McDaniel), her grandsons Christopher Bartley, Tyler Vandever, Jensen Mitchell, and her granddaughters Nina Vandever, Janlon Mitchell, and Alexa Jolley (Kolten). She also leaves behind her mother-in-law Lorraine Hale and sister-in-law Pam Dunn (Norm).

The family of Lonna Hale would like to extend our sincerest thanks to Dr. Kellie Wimberly for years of care you provided, and to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Texoma Medical Center. Your care and compassion will never be forgotten.

And to Dr. Dennis Gable, there will never be enough thanks in the world for all the care you gave Lonna Hale. Our family is forever grateful she was placed in your path, grateful for you and your staff, and grateful for all the extra time we had with her because of you.
