Obituary For Lorene Jean Millsap
Celebrating the life of Lorene “Ginger” Millsap
Lorene was born on April 4, 1926, in Wayland, Iowa. Parents were Everett and Grace (Barr) Monson.
She passed from this life on May 10, 2022, in Sherman, Texas. She was able to celebrate her 96th Birthday with family and friends.
She married the love of her life, Harvey Millsap, on June 10, 1944, in San Diego, California where Harvey’s duty station was with the Navy during World War II.
Lorene took a job with the Navy base canteen. She had not received her own personal smock so her friend, Ginger, loaned one of hers to Lorene. When Harvey first laid eyes on Lorene he called her Ginger. No matter how hard Lorene tried to explain, Harvey stuck with Ginger! So, it was Ginger from that day forward!
For a number of years here in Sherman, Harvey was a schoolteacher and Ginger worked to help supplement the family income. She gained the position of District Manager for the Photo Kwik kiosks and was a courier for the Clear Photo Company. She was proud of those accomplishments.
Lorene and Harvey were strong faithful Christians their entire lives. Harvey served as an Elder and was wonderfully supported by Ginger. They raised their three daughters to be strong and faithful as well. A terrific legacy.
Lorene is survived by three daughters, Linda Sharp and husband Don, Judy Walling and husband Chris, Debra Fuhr, seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harvey, brother Earl Monson and great-grandson Harvey Darl Sharp.
In addition to flowers, memorials may be made in Ginger’s name to Western Heights Church of Christ Missions or Benevolent Funds, 800 Baker Park Dr., Sherman, Texas 75092.
