Obituary For Ludean Greenlee

Ludean Dixon Greenlee, 90, went to her Heavenly home on August 12, 2016, in McKinney,Texas, following complications from multiple surgeries to repair a broken hip sustained in a fall at her home in Allen, Texas, on June 12th. Ludean was the second of twin daughters born to Hermon and Nora Vaughan Dixon in Wellington, Texas, on November 23, 1925. Her family moved to Sherman, Texas, when she was a baby. She was educated in Sherman schools. Upon graduation from Sherman High School in 1943, Ludean went to work as secretary to the late C. Stanly Roberts, Jr. of Roberts, Sanford, and Taylor Company, where she remained employed for over fifty years. She became Corporate Secretary in 1972. When the company closed in 1987, she continued working for Mr. Roberts at his home office, and upon his death, assisted Mrs. Kathleen Roberts with business affairs. She retired in 1995 following the death of Mrs. Roberts. Ludean was a charter member of the Sherman Chapter of the National Secretaries Association, serving as its first president and holding other offices. Ludean married James Earl Greenlee in 1956. They made their home in Sherman until moving to Denison in 2003. Ludean and her twin sister, Ludie, moved to Allen, Texas, earlier this year. The Greenlees were active members of the Sherman Church of the Nazarene. Ludean and Ludie formed a singing trio with a good friend, Imogene Siebert. They sang in their church for over twenty-five years. Ludean greatly enjoyed singing with her beautiful alto voice and was a dedicated choir member. She served her church as secretary of the Church Board, member of the Sunday School Board and Missionary Council, and taught a children’s Sunday School class for over twenty-five years until her health declined. She had a great love for the Lord and was a dedicated prayer warrior, praying daily for her family to whom she was devoted. Her sweet smile and encouragements will be missed by all who knew her. Ludean is survived by her twin sister, Ludie Wright, of Allen, Texas; daughter, Jeanie Greenlee Hancock and husband, Artie Hancock, of Plano; three grandchildren: Jarred Reynolds (Amanda Caldwell) of Denison, Jennifer (Vance) Bowen of Sherman, and Jordan Hancock of Houston; also, one great-grandson, Adler Bowen, of Sherman; brothers in law: Doyle (Charlsie) Greenlee of Frisco, Frank (Jo Ellen) Greenlee of Duncanville, and Donald (Frances) Greenlee of Wills Point; sisters in law: Dorothy Farmer of Denver, Colorado, and Betty Greenlee of Duncanville. She was preceded in death by her husband, father and mother, brothers Lois Dixon and Floyd Dixon, and sisters, Thelma Guinn Stroud and Goldie Alonzo. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16th at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, with the Rev. Mack Rogers officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Dannel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
