Lurline Walker passed away peacefully July 22, 2015 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center of Sherman, Texas. She was born, Alice Lurline Walker, October 28, 1923, to parents, Lee and Callie England. She graduated from Van Alstyne High School, Van Alstyne, Texas and after graduation, she married Murrell Wood. Murrell was killed during World War II as Lurline contributed to the war effort in an ammunitions factory in Arkansas. In 1950, Lurline married Dick Walker, owner and operator of Walker Pharmacy in Whitewright, Texas who preceded her in death in 1977. Dick and Lurline enjoyed playing golf at Hurricane Creek Country Club in Anna, Texas. Lurline continued to play golf for many years after Dick's passing. Lurline was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, a sister and a son, Don Walker. She is survived by two children, Benjamin Richard Walker and partner Scott Sheldon of Scottsdale, Arizona and Kris Stevens and husband, Tom of Gordonville, Texas. Other survivors include 4 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and sisters, Joyce Lange, husband Johnny, of Irving, Texas; Nadine Hollensed of Tom Bean, Texas; Goldie Gaston, Howe, Texas and Shirley Davis, husband, Jesse and close friends, Dr. and Mrs. Steve Sullivan and family. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Dr. Benson and the staff at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center for their excellent care. Lurline's private committal service was held July 23, 2015 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright, Texas. Please join the family on Sunday, August 2, 2015 from 3 until 5 in the afternoon at Carol's Red Apron, 124 South Woods Street, Sherman, Texas for a celebration of Lurline's life. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home, Sherman, Texas.
