Obituary For Lynn Perry

Lynn was born near Albany, Texas on December 12,1936, to Lonnie Frederick Meeks and Mary Esther Jordan Meeks. She asked Jesus Christ to be her savior in 1946 and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Sudan. She went to her heavenly home on March 26, 2024.

Lynn loved music, played clarinet in the band, played piano and sang in several choirs. She was the 1954 valedictorian of Sudan High School where she was chosen “Best All Around Girl”. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas on June 2,1958.

Lynn married Charles Benton Perry on June 15, 1958, at First Baptist Church in Sudan, Texas. They had one son, Michael Wayne on May 16, 1961, and divorced in 1980.

Lynn was a long-time resident of Lubbock and member of First Baptist Church there. She enjoyed playing golf, watching Red Raider games, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers. She ended her banking career in 2007 when she retired from Plains Capital Bank. She later moved to Sherman to live with her son. Lynn was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Warren Meeks, sister, Jane Meeks Campbell, and her grandson, Andrew Perry. She is survived by her sister, Ann Meeks Arnold; son, Michael Perry, and wife, Glenda; grandchildren, Will Perry and wife, Hellyng, Virginia, Victoria and Angela Perry; great-grandchildren, Camilla, and Nathan Perry, sister-in-law, Jo Meeks; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services, under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home, will be at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Merriman Hills Baptist Church of Sherman, pastor Mike Perry officiating. Burial will be at 4:00 pm at Akers Cemetery in Howe, TX.

    I knew Lynn as a gracious, southern lady, soft spoken and with a lovely smile for everyone. Having raised a son to be a godly family man, she is to be commended. Memories of her will always be sweet. Jacky Manchester
