Mack Aaron Snider was born September 19, 1941, in McKinney, Texas and passed from this life on March 5, 2024. Mack stoically faced his many health challenges and left this earth exactly as he told us he wanted to...at home on the lake in Sherman, Texas. Mack was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Aaron and Lily Mayhew Barrett Snider; his older brother, Carl Elbert Snider; and nephew Charles Mack Snider. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years and devoted caregiver, Carolyn Sue; children, Susan Elaine Smith-Snider (Fran), Michael Aaron Snider, Melanie Sue Luminoso (Gerry), Michael Dale Barnwell; grandchildren, Elizabeth Aaron Luminoso, Thomas Gerard Luminoso (Rowen), Christina Anne Luminoso; nieces, Margie Snider Dawson, Nancy Snider Greene, Melissa Snider Goodman; many cousins and friends. Mack was fortunate to grow up in the relatively small town of Sherman surrounded by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He credited their love, discipline, and high expectations as having greatly influenced how he lived his life. He loved them all dearly. Soon after graduating from Sherman High School (1959), Mack married Kathryn Ann Smith and started a family. He received his BA from Austin College and a Master of Science from the University of North Texas while working and raising two small children. Mack started his career as a draftsman for Quaker Oats and after graduating college, became the City Accountant for Sherman. He moved his young family to Dallas in 1969 to become the Director of Financial Planning for Braniff Airways and then on to Houston in 1975 to take on the role of Treasurer of the EIM Company. In 1988 Mack married Carolyn Sue Barnwell. They moved back to Sherman in 1999 and he joined Mueller Construction as Chief Financial Officer for ten years before retiring. A long-time member of the United Methodist church, Mack sang in the choir and served in many capacities of service. He was Chair of the Finance Committee for the Sherman Education Foundation, Past President of The Sherman Rotary Club, and Treasurer of The Sherman Ex Students Association for many years. Held in high regard by everyone who made his acquaintance, Mack was honest, dependable, witty, and kind. He served the Lord and was loved by his family and friends. He will be missed by us all. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, July 19th at the First United Methodist Church, 401 N. Elm St. in Sherman. Family and friends are welcome to gather for refreshments in Binkley Hall after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital https://stjude.org/donate in Mack's memory or to the charity of your choice. The family is especially grateful for the care and comfort provided by the 7Sisters organization which allowed Mack to remain in his home the last few months.
