Obituaries

Margaret Ann Krause, 82, of Van Alstyne, TX, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Medical City McKinney. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.

Ann was born in Terrell, Texas, to Dennis and Margaret Hilton on September 28, 1940. She graduated from Terrell High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of North Texas in Denton and a Master’s Degree in Photography from SMU. She went on to teach Art in Dallas at Walnut Hill Elementary and completed her career teaching Middle School Art at Perry Junior High.

Ann’s enthusiasm for teaching and her love of art carried over to her role as “Nana” to her grandchildren after her retirement from DISD in 2007. She loved her grandchildren above everything else, always being first in line to read a bedtime story or turn any task or assignment into an art project. She was always ready to help and famous for appearing with food for everyone at even the slightest indication of stress. The catalog of art that she created throughout her life hangs throughout her family’s homes where it is hung with pride. Her talents were not limited to oil painting, charcoal, drawing and other mediums. She gave kindness freely to anyone in her reach and had the ability to find simple beauty in even the most complex things.

She is survived by her husband, Don Krause; daughter, Gabrielle (Gabby) Miller and husband Randy; 3 grandchildren: Colton, Cal, and Ainsley Jo Miller; brother, Dennis Frank Hilton and wife Melinda; 2 nephews: Kenneth Hilton and James Hilton.
