Obituaries

I was born January 26, 1950 to John Dewey and Mary Kathryn Turpin Mitchell and went softly into the night on January 14, 2014. I was preceded in death by my infant son Darren Sutherland, my dad John D. Mitchell, two brothers Phillip and Leslie Mitchell and my sister Maureen Mitchell. My survivors include my beloved husband Jason Paul Montague, my precious little mama Mary K Mitchell, my dear sister Gloria and her husband Ted Miller, my wonderful brother Johnny Mitchell and his wife Barbara, and my sister-in-law Mary Mitchell. Two terrific sons, Bryan Sutherland and his wife Patricia, and Travis Montague; two lovely daughters, LeeAnn Lee and Tracey Griffin and her husband Scott. I have been blessed with eight grandchildren: Aaron Gaines, Brandon Shurbaji, Echo and Wren Sutherland, Madison and Rose Montague, and Trinity and Kennedy Griffin. I also have five nieces and six nephews, fourteen great nieces/nephews and one great-great nephew. There are six unbroken generations of combat veterans in my family. I am a member of the Church of God WWA. I was employed at Texas Instruments for 15 years, and later attended Austin Peay University in Clarksville, TN, and Grayson County College, where I graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1994. I have been employed at Wilson N Jones Medical ICU for the past 13 years. In addition to my loving family, I have been blessed with the most wonderful friends a person could ever hope to have: Melinda Clay, Kathi Moore, Linda Dennard, Carol Morrison, Paulette Ferman, my dear friend Debbie Jones – and last but not least – the nursing crew at Texas Health Presbyterian/WNJ, MICU. I love my husband, family, church and dear friends, but the greatest love of all is that of my Heavenly Father, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Lord make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. Oh, Eternal Father, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is in the giving that we receive; it is in the pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in the dying that we are born to eternal life. Family visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17th at Dannel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18th in the Dannel Funeral Chapel with Rev. Andrew Burnett officiating. The family will also receive friends in Dannel Chapel one hour prior to the service.
