Obituaries

Margaret Nell Isbell, 83, of Tom Bean passed away at her home on July 20, 2026. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Dannel Funeral Home. Pastor Bobby Hawkins of Luella Baptist Church will officiate. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. Pallbearers for Mrs. Isbell will be James Dick, Cale Dick, Adrian Frey, Rob Hall, Keith Rush, and BJ Melton.

Margaret was born on August 8, 1942, in Palestine, Texas to Lindon and Lilla Mae Cross. She was raised and attended schools in Palestine. After high school she attended Lamar University where she earned her degree in education. One of her earlier jobs was teaching at Hampshire-Fannett High School. She married CB Isbell on December 10, 1965, in Palestine.

Margaret loved gardening and she loved her family. She was also very resilient, having become a widow in 2017 when CB passed, her home was destroyed by Hurricane Harvey a month later. Her family came to her aid and brought her to Tom Bean to live close to them. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Margaret is survived by nephew, Lonny Johnson and wife Michelle of Huntsville; great nephew Jonathan Edwards of Orange, Texas; great niece Jennifer Moore Waylon of Huntsville, nieces Billie Langford, Kathy Walker and husband Doyle, Sandy Smith and husband Danny, and several great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband CB Isbell, nieces Melody and Lori, as well as her parents.
