Obituary For Margie Delene Wester

Margie Delene Thomas Wester, 86, of Dorchester, Texas, went to be home with her Lord on Sunday, July 3, 2022. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Dannel Funeral Home at 10:00 AM. Rev. Kenneth Dacus of Victory Baptist Church in Sherman will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. The family will greet friends on Friday, July 8, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Dannel Funeral Home.

Margie was born on October 19, 1935, in Red River County, near Cuthan, Texas, to Dee and Sallie Thomas. The family moved to Dorchester and Margie attended schools in Dorchester and Sherman. Margie was small in stature, but she had a huge heart. She loved playing basketball as a member of the Sherman High School women's basketball team. She married the love of her life, Wesley Winston Wester, on May 7, 1953, at NorthPark Baptist Church in Sherman. She had three girls, Linda, Laurie, and Rebecca. After her daughters had started attending school, Margie took a job at Whopper Stopper in Sherman where she worked for many years and made many friends. She also worked as a cafeteria manager for the Melissa ISD.

Margie loved to sing especially at her church, Victory Baptist Church in Sherman, where she and her husband were charter members. She loved to cook. Her family and friends particularly loved her famous pecan pies. Her secret was in making her own crust from scratch. Every Fourth of July she would host a party at her house to celebrate her great nephew’s birthday. Margie loved her pets, especially her dogs, Scooter and Blaze. She made her family her main priority, always putting them first, always! She was thoughtful and gracious, making friends wherever she went. She will be greatly missed.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Winston, her parents, and her sister, Vivian Armstrong. She is survived by her three daughters: Linda Jay and husband Gary of Sherman, Laurie Stephens Ball of Sherman, and Rebecca Conrad of Howe; seven grandchildren: Tricia Jay, Tracie Jay, Megen Stephens, Justin Jay, Jeremy Jay, Jesse Stephens, and Ethan Conrad; sister, Mary Reed of Gunter; two brothers: Tommy Thomas of Bells, and James Thomas of Mexia, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Traditions Assisted Living and Memory Care as well as Heart-to-Heart Hospice for their wonderful care of Margie.

You may sign the online guestbook at www.Dannelfuneralhome.com.
