Obituaries

Marie Griffith Goldston, 80, passed away December 24, 2018 at Texoma Healthcare Center in Sherman. Her family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29th at Dannel Funeral Chapel. Celebration of Life services will begin at 11:00 with Rev. Steve Rice of First Baptist Church Sherman officiating. Interment will follow immediately afterward in West Hill Cemetery in Sherman.

Marie was born December 17, 1938 in the Luella community to Claude Griffith, Sr. and Norma Perkins Griffith. She graduated from Tom Bean High School in 1956. Marie married Delton Goldston on December 24, 1959 in Sherman, TX. Marie and Delton were blessed with one son, Dale in January of 1963. Marie worked at Burlington Industries and later at the Chapel of Care nursing facility. She loved to read and to spend time with her family. After retirement she also became a fan of Bingo, playing at least three times a week.

Marie is survived by her son, Dale and wife Donna; grandchildren: Jennifer Moore and husband Jason, and Nicholas Goldston; brother, Claude Griffith, Jr. and wife Mary; sisters: Shirley Hestand and husband Edwin, Billye Turner & Claudine Allison.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Evelyn Caldwell, Betty Ruth Griffith as well as several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Nicholas Goldston, Jason Moore, Phillip Hestand, Lanney Allison, Brad Griffith and Tony Hestand. Honorary pallbearer will be Loy Goldston. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates memorial donations to the National Institute of Health at www.nimh.nih.gov
