Obituary For Marina Alonso
Marina Alonso, 65, of Sherman, TX, passed away on January 3, 2026, in Hendersonville, NC. Funeral services will be held at 4pm on January 18, 2026, at Dannel Funeral Home with Pastor Leland Samuelson of The Refuge Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Dannel Funeral Home.
Marina Alonso was born in Guanajuato, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Mario Alonso Romero and Susana Santibanez on September 26, 1960. She spent her childhood in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. She was the second child of four siblings and was close to her older sister and two younger brothers.
Marina graduated from ITESO, Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Growing up, she dreamed of one day living in the United States, a dream she fulfilled when she immigrated to the US in 1988. She met her life partner, William Moog in Fort Wayne, IN, in 1990, and they raised their two daughters, Raquel Perez and Andrea Moog, in Sherman, TX.
Marina had many passions in life, including caring for children, yoga, sewing, organizing and collecting affirmations. She completed a 200 HR Yoga Certification in 2014 with North Texas Yoga and a 300 HR Yoga Certification in 2019 with Alpha Omega Yoga. These were reflections of her spiritual wisdom and deep understanding of healing through movement.
Her biggest joy was always her family. She was overjoyed to become a grandmother to Andrea’s daughter, Esther Renovato, in October of 2025. Her family is forever changed by her loving and pure heart.
Marina is preceded in death by her mother, Susana Santibanez and her father, Mario Alonso Romero.
Marina is survived by her partner, William Moog; her daughters Raquel Perez and Andrea Moog and Andrea’s spouse Carlos Renovato; siblings Susana Alonso, Mario Alonso, and Enrique Alonso; and her granddaughter Esther Renovato.
Memorials may be given to Dannel Funeral Home.
