Obituary For Marka Lynn Holloway

Services for Marka Lynn Lair Holloway, 67 of Sherman, will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Parkview Church of Christ in Sherman. Bro. Bradley Brooks of Parkside Church of Christ in Denison will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Holloway Cemetery in Luella, Texas. The family will greet friends on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman.

Marka was born on October 4, 1956 in Sherman, Texas, to Theodore Mark Lair and Nelda Faye Hanning Lair. She was raised in Sherman and attended Sherman Schools, graduating from Sherman High School in 1974. She dated her husband, Max Holloway, for over a year before getting married on September 21, 1974. They were very much in love with each other. Marka knew she would marry Max since she saw him in the 7th grade.

Marka started out working in the family business, Double B Saddle Company in Van Alstyne. She and Max then started their family and she devoted her time to raising her children. When her daughter started school at Jefferson Elementary, she began working as a teacher’s aide and then she held several different positions during her 32 years working for Sherman Independent School District. At the same time, she also worked as a secretary at Texoma Driving School for 25 years. Marka recently retired in May from Perrin Early Childhood Center. She was an extremely hard worker who cared deeply for others.

Marka was a Christian woman and had a deep and abiding faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. She was an amazing example of God’s love to everyone she met. She always met you with a smile on her face and you would never leave her without having a smile on yours. She was a bright light in this world and made a positive impact everywhere she went. Her goal was to have all of her family in Heaven with her. She loved her family deeply and prayed constantly for them. She was a wonderful wife, a wonderful mother, not only to her children, but also to her grandchildren. Marka was truly a woman of faith who spent her life preparing to be with Jesus and she reached that goal on Saturday, July 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She will be greatly missed by all of the people who had the privilege to know her.

Marka was preceded in death by her father, Theodore. She is survived by her husband, Max Holloway; mother, Nelda Clay; 2 children: son, Shane Holloway and daughter, Nicole Baker; grandchildren: Trey, Jailyn, and Khloe Baker, Katherine and Ethan Locke; brother, Nelson Lair, aunt, Sue Hanning, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers for Marka will be: Mark Stidham, Jason Vaughn, Bruce Baker, Jeff Bowen, Tracy Bell, and Roddgrick Washington.

I had the privilege of working with Marka at Texoma Driving School for almost 15 years. She was always positive and joyful to be around. We all loved her and enjoyed talking with her. She was a person with a servants heart. You knew very soon how much she loved her family and how much she loved the Lord. She was faithful in all things. A true Proverbs lady and I loved our times to talk. Our prayers are with her Mom, husband, her children and grandchildren. Until we meet her again we pray God's blessings on all of you.
