Obituary For Marshall Sartin

A Celebration of Life Service for Marshall Lynn Sartin will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at West Sherman Baptist Church, 1830 West Washington Street, in Sherman, with Rev. Danny Wood officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home. Marshall Lynn Sartin, 68, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017, at Wilson N. Jones Regional Hospital in Sherman. Marshall was born on Sunday, January 2, 1949 in McKinney, to parents Jesse Eugene (Gene) Sartin and Dennie Mae Kinnamon. He was raised in McKinney and made a profession of faith as a teenager at Waddill Street Baptist Church in McKinney. He graduated from McKinney High School in 1967, where he played Cornet in the band and served as Drum Major with the Marching Band. After graduating from high school, Marshall attended Grayson College in Denison, and Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Marshall began his work in the land surveying industry in 1971. In 1980 he established Sartin and Associates Survey, Inc., in Sherman and had remained actively involved in the business until the time of his death. He was an accomplished pianist and loved all types of music. Marshall enjoyed riding in his truck, sitting on his patio listening to music, reading, and most especially playing with his three beloved puppies: Toby, Bella, and Beck. His weekends and leisure time were planned around area trade days, as well as gun and knife shows. Marshall is survived by his son Jesse of Pottsboro, grandson Trey Sartin, granddaughter Alee Breedlove, sister Helen (Scalf) Herod of McKinney, nephews Durwood Scalf and wife Gayla of McKinney, Gary Langford and wife Staci of The Woodlands, niece Cyndi Spencer and husband Rick of Sherman. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Wanda (Langford) Fleming. Marshall never met a stranger and had a host of friends and relatives who will miss him greatly. But we all rejoice in knowing his battle is over and that he is in the presence of his Savior. Memorials may be made in Marshall's name to the City of Sherman Animal Services, Dept. 123, P.O. Box 1106, Sherman, Texas 75091. You may sign the online guest book a dannelfuneralhome.com.

Marshall was a wonderful man. I worked for him at Satin and Assc. In the 80's. Marshall always made sure he looked over me while in the field or surveying for a new apartment complex, working for him never seemed like work because he was always cracking jokes making us all laugh. He will truly be missed by everyone that knew him. I left Sartin and assc. In 1986 to pursue a career in nursing. I will definitely miss my dear friend. ~ Susan Smith Measles, Denison, Texas

Marshall the more I got to know you the more I treasured becoming a friend. This Christmas when I asked are you putting up a tree you said, no but if you want you can have all my decorations for your non profit Upscale Thrift store, You brought load after load to us and the largest tree is tied to a pole in front of the store, you liked that and it made you so happy to give, and also donated to our ministry. I enjoyed hearing you share how you liked Joel Osteen that he encouraged you, I know you loved the Lord and I feel confident you are rejoicing in Heaven, thanking you for blessing Whosoever Will Outreach Ministries and making our store look pretty inside and out. ~ Jackie Holland, Sherman, Texas
