Obituary For Martha Ellen North
Martha North passed away peacefully in Sherman, Texas on October 2nd, 2022, at the age of 84. She was born in Los Angeles, California on June 24, 1938 and was preceded in death by her husband, Frank A.North, who passed in 2007. She grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas and attended the University of Texas at Arlington while finishing up at the University of Texas in Austin. She enjoyed the drama club, the Longhorn band, and the theater.
After living shortly in Waukesha, Wisconsin to pursue Mission Biblical studies with her husband they moved to Hollywood, Florida to do the same at Florida Bible College. Atlanta, Georgia eventually became their hometown. Mom continued to teach and eventually became an administrative assistant.
Anything to do with music, gardening, cooking, cooking shows, observing antiques, sewing her own clothes, church choir singing, and Bible studies became her passion. Many sought her advice in her abilities. Fried chicken and her upside-down lemon pound cake became a 'had-to-have' at church gatherings. She also enjoyed vacation opportunities to the North Georgia mountains and to Charleston, SC.
As a Christian and a follower of Christ she was example in word and deed. She was diligent in sharing Biblical salvation to others as she also enjoyed reading the Bible while sharing in group settings. She taught the Bible centered program of AWANA to elementary aged girls on Wednesday evenings. She knew the Lord and wanted to make Him known.
She is currently survived by her son, Scott Gilmouthe North, sister, Joanne Carol Wimberly of Mesquite, TX, Uncle Oliver Forrest Johnson of Dallas, TX niece, Debra Ann Carrico Sjogren of Krum, TX, niece, Cari Lynn Johnson of Salt Lake City, Utah, niece, Jenna Mae Wimberly Pires of Frisco, TX, Nephew, Jack Jewell "J.J" Wimberly Dallas, Tx, Cousins: Rebecca Orton Sikes, Nancy Orton Van Auken and Susan Orton Friedman.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Frank Albert North, father, Jewell Adams Johnson, Mother, Elen Kirby Smith Johnson, Grandmother, Martha W. Smith, brother James Kirby "Jimmy Johnson, sister, Janet Elizabeth Carrico, Nephew, Russell Wayne Carrico, Uncle James Kirby Smith and cousin Anne Orton Hacker
