Obituary For Marvin Andrew Blomstedt
Marvin Andrew Blomstedt, 87 of Sherman, Texas, passed away Dec 4th, 2024.
He was born in McCook, Nebraska on April 2nd, 1937. Marvin graduated from Palisade Nebraska High School. He was divorced but stayed close to Lucinda Blomstedt, she passed away in 2020. Marvin was an Aircraft Mechanic in the Airforce after graduating high school. He was very proud of his service. He was a dedicated member of his church. He had a passion for all things mechanical. He loved all his extended family and friends.
Marvin Andrew Blomstedt, better known as Grandpa or simply Dad, was an Airforce mechanic, witness, and hero who saved not only himself and two Airforce pilots, but a plane full of Airforce brass from crashing into the Rocky Mountains due to sabotage of one of the plane's two prop engines. His story didn’t stop after being promoted (two ranks) for saving the plane and all aboard. He became a Ranch-hand and a cowboy in every sense of the word. Dad spent his whole life as a consummate good “Ol'boy” who never hesitated to help anyone in need the best he could, giving even the shirt off his back. Through rain, sleet, and snow he was there for family, friends, and strangers alike. As a minimalist and no stranger to discomfort, helping at the drop of a hat came easy to Him, but this had a downside. Ironically, it was in being a husband and father to our family of five, we all saw him struggle to provide. He was always there when we needed him to lend a hand. He was even there when any of his friends and adopted family needed him too. Dad was very well loved and very richly lived his life. He will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.
He is survived by his sons and daughters: Garrett Blomstedt, Larry Blomstedt, Loretta Tuttle and Lorinda Blomstedt; Grandchildren: Clifton Tuttle, Anthony Tuttle, Ashton Waldrep, Cody Blomstedt and Colton Blomstedt; and his brother, Dennis Blomstedt.
