Obituary For Mary Balmer

Mary Brady Balmer, 89, of Sherman, passed from this life on Monday, February 16, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. According to her wishes no public services are planned at this time. Mary was born July 27, 1925, in Selkirk, Scotland to Bridget Brady and William Moyes. She lived in Scotland for the first 22 years of her life. She moved to Australia with her parents in 1947. There she met and fell in love with Thomas Balmer. They were married in Albany, Australia in 1949, and became each other's life-long, preferred dance partner. A few years later, and on the complete opposite side of the world, they raised three children, first in Ontario, Canada and then on to Warren, Michigan. In addition to all the duties of her own household and family, Mary devoted many hours as a volunteer, working in homes for the mentally impaired. In spite of a long battle with multiple sclerosis, Mary and Thomas enjoyed 65 amazing years together until his death in June of 2014. Preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Mary is survived by her children: Delia Balmer, Stewart Balmer and Gerard (Nancy) Balmer; three sisters: Enna Swan, Margaret Dalgliesh and Christina Cameron; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
