Obituaries

Mary Margaret Cordell, 79, of Sherman, passed away Friday, January 8, 2016, at Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center in Sherman. Her family will receive friends from 4:30-6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10th, at Dannel Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 11th in Dannel Chapel, with Rev. Sid Hunter, formerly of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery immediately afterward. Mary was born November 12, 1936, in Sherman, to Charlie and Vilot Wood. She attended Sherman High School. In 1953, she was married to Cecil Cordell in Central Baptist Church of Sherman. She was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was very active in Sunday School and children's programs. The world has lost a very powerful prayer warrior. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Cecil Cordell, of Sherman; children: Evelyn Cordell, of Irving, Bill and Karen Cordell, of Carrollton, Kenneth Cordell, of Sherman, and Bonnie and Tim Smith, of Alvin; grandchildren: Kacey, Christina and Hannah; brothers: Charlie Wood and wife Elsie, of Edwardsville, IL, and Bill Wood and wife Frieda, of Magnolia, AR; in-laws Johnnie Cordell and Barbara and Don Pierce, all of Oklahoma City, OK; many loving nieces and nephews.
