Obituary For Mary Hall
Mary Lou Viertel Hall, 84, of Sugarland TX, passed away peacefully from this life on Friday, December 4th, 2015 at MD Anderson in Houston TX. A family visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, December 13th at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, TX. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am Monday, December 14th at First United Methodist Church in Tom Bean TX. Pastor Donnie Haywood will officiate. Interment will follow immediately afterward at White Mound Cemetery. Mary was born December 21st, 1930 in Aspermont, TX to Effie and Clemons Viertel. She was the youngest of four children, having 2 older brothers and a sister. She graduated from the first graduating class at Odessa High. She also graduated from Texas Technological College in Lubbock, TX with a degree in Home Economics, and a teaching certificate in Math. While at Texas Technological College, Mary met Edward Hall. They married on June 6th, 1953 in Aspermont, TX. Mary was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a Junior High School teacher for 39 years. She also taught Sunday school, 4H, summer school, and college math classes. She volunteered to do many things, like help feed the high school kids and she was a Girl Scout leader. Mary loved to crochet, play dominos, and put puzzles together. She and Edward were members of the Davis Mountain Community Church. After Retirement she and Edward became apple farmers planting over 300 apple trees. Mary was preceded in death by her husband: Edward Hall, parents, and brothers: Clifford and Curtis Viertel. She is survived by her children: James Lee Hall of Fort Stockton, TX; Deborah Lynn Johnson and her husband Dwight of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Linda Marie Williams and her husband Rickey of Sugarland, TX, Lesile Edward Hall and wife Sue of Andrews, TX, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, and her sister Wanda McKinnon of Littlefield, TX. She was loved by all her children and grandchildren, and she gave them a legacy of prayer. Memorial donations are greatly appreciated to Wounded Warriors or a local church of your choice.
