Obituary For Mary J. Adlof

Mary Jo Adlof, 96, of Sherman, passed away on December 7, 2024, in Denison, Texas.

Rosary and Visitation will be at 6:00 pm, Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church with Frs. Martin Castaneda and Merlito Abiog of St. Mary’s Catholic Parishofficiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements are by Dannel Funeral Home.

Mary was born in Trenton, Texas to Jack Petty and Irma (Petty) Burden on March 7, 1928. She married James Hugo Adlof on October 10, 1947,in Sherman, Texas. She was co-owner of Baker Wholesale Company and later owner of Shipp Motor Company. Mary was named “Woman of The Year” by the Sherman Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association. She was a charter member of the local chapter of ABWA. She served as Financial Secretary for The First United Methodist Church in Sherman and was a member of the St. Mary’s Church Finance Committee. Mary served her church community at St, Mary’s in various capacities over the years.Mary was also an avid Texas Rangers fan who watched their games everyday.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband James, son, Bobby Glen and wife Treva, father, Jack Petty, mother, Irma Burden, brothers, Melvin, Glen, and Weldon Wade Petty, and sister, Sue Hall.

Mary is survived by sons: Deacon James Adlof and wife Kellie, Kevin Adlof and wife Jennifer, Kent Adlof and wife Sheila; daughters: PamLewis and husband David and Dawn Laxson and husband Dean, 18 Grandchildren and 22 great-Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Eric Adlof, Mark Lewis, Matthew Adlof, Jarrett Adlof, Kaceyn Adlof and Andrew Adlof.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tad Lewis, Daylon Moore, Ted Neitzschman, Kevin Poole, Josh Brown, Jared Bourne, Harris Vick, and Trevor Taimuty.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School.

The family of Mary Jo Adlof wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses of Texoma Medical Center for their care and support.
