Obituary For Mary Smith

Mary Lue Smith passed away at home on Sunday, September 11, 2016 in Sherman, Texas. She was born Mary Lue Waldrum on May 25, 1921 in Sherman to the late Arthur F. Waldrum and Lizzie Gant Waldrum. She attended Sherman public schools, graduating in 1939, and Sherman Business College. On April 20, 1946, she married Guan Smith in Sherman. They were married 54 years when Guan passed away on December 10, 2000. They resided in Sherman where their two children were born. She was the greatest stay -at- home Mom and devoted her time to Guan, son Steve and daughter LuAnn. Mary Lue was a longtime member of Grand Avenue Presbyterian Church, joining in 1962. Mary Lue was a devoted wife and mother and a friend to everyone. She loved her family, friends, all animals and all flowers. She was a modest person and would not want what we think of as accomplishments listed here, but would prefer to be remembered as a woman who took delight in simple things and satisfaction in her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Mary Lue is survived by her son, Steven G. Smith and his wife, Gayle of Plano, TX; her daughter, LuAnn Forish and her husband, David of Sherman; step-grandson, Brian Forish and step-granddaughter, Ashley Golladay; close family member Retta Smith of Plano; special nieces Carole Wineinger, Vicki Woody and Donna Church; special friends Bret and June Clark, and many other nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Lue was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Glenn Waldrum and one sister, Helen Francis John. There will be a Graveside Service at Friendship Cemetery in Sherman on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. All family and friends are invited to attend the service. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts be made to The Humane Society of the United States, Dept HACDQ100904001, 2100 L Street, NW, Washington, DC 20037 or the Sherman Animal Shelter, 1800 E Ida Road, Sherman, TX 75090. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home, Sherman,
