Services for MaryLou Darter Lueb, age 94 died on Saturday, October 2, 2021. She went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband and best friend, Raymond John Lueb (Hank) who preceded her in death.

Viewing is Friday, October 8, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at Dannel Funeral Home. Service is Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Central Christian Church, 401 S Travis, Sherman TX 75090. Randy Reddell, Music Minister Central Christian Church, Sherman, TX will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.

MaryLou was born July 14, 1927 in Sherman Texas, daughter of Gladys (Gross) and W.A. (Buddy) Darter. She had one brother whom she adored, Harry H. (Pete) Darter. MaryLou went to Washington School in the first grade and was taught by Miss Emma Pullen who had also taught her Mother, Gladys in the first grade. She attended Bryan school for the remainder of her Elementary School days. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1944 and won a scholarship to Austin College by writing an Essay on “Why we should attend Austin College”. That was during the war years. And she did attend Austin College, which she still supported.

On April 6, 1948, she married Raymond John (Hank) Lueb from Denison, TX at Central Christian Church in Sherman where she was a life-long member. They lived in Huntsville, TX while Hank finished his education at Sam Houston State University, moving to Baton Rough, LA on January 16, 1951. While in Baton Rouge, they attended Calvary Christian Church until she and Hank helped to organize and work in a new Christian Church in Baker, LA. They remained there for 15 years while Hank worked at State Times Morning Advocate newspaper, returning to Dallas in 1966. There they also helped to establish Central Christian Church in Richardson, TX. They remained there until 1982 when they returned to Sherman to care for her parents.

After returning to Sherman, MaryLou and Joyce Dollison Sullivan opened a new business, The Sunshine Shoppe, specializing in weddings, class reunions, gifts and craft items. MaryLou worked as a high school reunion coordinator for over 30 different SHS reunions, one for the old Fairview School, Sherman, and Golden Rule School in Denison. She coordinated a class reunion for every class from the 1940’s, including her own class of 1944, times as well as a War Years Reunion in 2000. She also created and published at least 25 Athenian Updates, all of which are available for viewing in the SHS Museum. In 1991, she helped with the planning and organization of the Sherman EX-Student Association and served on the first Board of Directors. After serving on the Board she was involved in the oversight of the SHS Museum that was established in the old High School where she attended during her high school days. She was very proud of the Museum and supported it in every way, retiring only because of the ill health of her Mother and her own health. MaryLou was a lifetime member of the Sherman Ex-Students Association, a member of the Sherman BP&W; SHS 1944-45 Class LunchBunch; a member of CWF; a life-time member of VFW Auxiliary. She served as a Deaconess at Central Christian Church and was the Church Historian for 15 years. She was a Camp Fire Girl and Leader for many years both in Sherman and Baton Rouge.

She wrote a book “Remembering a Wonderful Life” about her life in Sherman, TX and the life she had as a young girl.

Surviving her are her daughter, Patricia Lueb Mooney of Lewisville, TX; her son Paul D. Lueb and his wife Sarah of Plano, TX.; Grandchildren Steven Mooney and wife Lorraine of Sherman, TX, Paul Lueb Jr of Austin, TX; Brian Lueb and wife Heidi of Portland Oregon; Jason Lueb of Dallas; Cacee Joy Lueb and Ms. Dylan Ryan Lueb of Plano, TX; Great Grandchildren: Elizabeth Roswitha Lueb of Portland, OR; Terrah Nycole Phillips of Denison; Adopted son Frank J Iueli, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and the entire Iueli family; Pamila Iueli Denicola Simmons and husband Bruce, Lauren Denicola; Taylor Denicola Young and husband, Ben; Rick Iueli and wife Dawn, Cody and Morgan Iueli and children, Dylan Iueli, Kennedy Leigh Young; Jacob Thomas Young; Mason Taylor Mulkey; Olivia Faith Passman.

In addition, countless other family, lifelong friends and caregivers who made her extremely happy with a lifetime of memories.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hank Lueb Memorial Choir Fund or building fund of Central Christian Church, 401 W Travis St. Sherman, TX 75090 or the Sherman Ex-Students Association Museum.
