Obituary For Marylyn Ruth Brimer

Marylyn Ruth (Cox) Brimer, 72, made her journey Home on Friday, July 20, 2018. Born August 5, 1945 to John Herbert Cox Jr. and Ruth Esther McClain Cox at the U.S Naval Base in Corpus Christi, Texas, she was the oldest of five children. She grew up in Howe, Texas with early aspirations of becoming a Fashion Designer and living in a loft “downtown” but her family was still her first priority. As a young girl, she helped raise her four siblings. Even after she married her soulmate, Bobby Gene Brimer, in August of 1960, she continued to care for her brothers and sisters and then went on to look after their children while raising three children of her own. After Bobby’s untimely death in 1977, she remained a single parent and raised their son and two daughters by herself. A long time resident of Sherman, Marylyn had lived the last 9 years in Denison. She worked for several years in the Central Business Office for Wilson N Jones Hospital before retiring in 2007. She would often spend her time enjoying her passion for travel with her best friend from grade school, Evelyn Hughes of Zephyr, Texas, and her ladies group, The Texas LadyBugs. She always looked forward to her annual trips to Las Vegas. She also enjoyed collecting memorabilia of Elvis, the Wizard of Oz and anything displaying roosters. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her Brother-In-Law, Randy Pettit of Denison. She is survived by her siblings, Betty Pender of Sherman, John W. Cox and wife Jean of Sherman, Mary Pettit of Denison and Bill Cox and Fiancee Janice of Sherman. Marylyn is also survived by her children, Randy Brimer and wife Tracy of Denison, Tammy Brimer of Irving, Kerry Tidwell of Sherman, and two Grandsons, Shane Campbell of Sherman and Ethan Brimer of Denison, plus many nieces, nephews and dozens of friends who loved her and will miss her everyday. A memorial celebration and viewing will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Dannel Funeral Home, 302 S. Walnut Street, Sherman, Texas 75090. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to support your local Fire Department or to The American Heart Association. You may sign the online guestbook at www.Dannelfuneralhome.com.
