May Belle Gilbert, 94, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Beacon Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Denison, surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 14th at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Monday, December 15th in the Dannel Funeral Chapel. Chaplain Bryan Spurgin with Heart-to-Heart Hospice will officiate. Interment will follow immediately afterward in Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright. May was born January 4, 1920, to Jasper W. and Debbie Morris Gunter. She married Forest Gilbert in 1952. May was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Forest; son John Charles Dodson; grandson Donald Wayne Ooten; four brothers: Fred, Rayburn, Wesley and Harvey; four sisters: Hattie, Pauline, Jewel and Essie. She is survived by her daughters: Joyce Ooten and husband Donald of Sherman, TX, and Norma Reeves of Missouri; sister-in-law, Virginia Dodson; brother, Jasper and wife of Denison, TX; sister, Bulah and husband of Denison, TX. She also leaves 8 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and even great-great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be: Brian Ballinger, Rich Strong, J.C. Dodson, Jimmy Dodson, Jamie Dodson and John Polonchak.
