Obituary For Melvin Henry Fleitman

Melvin Fleitman, age eighty-one of Sherman, Texas, passed away on January 30, in the town of Gainesville, Texas.

Rosary and Visitation will be at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, February 5th at St. Mary’s Church in Sherman, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6th at St. Mary’s Church in Sherman, Texas. Melvin will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery following the funeral service. Arrangements are by Dannel Funeral Home of Sherman, Texas.

Please join the family in celebrating the wonderful life of Melvin Fleitman. Born in Muenster, Texas on August 15, 1942, to Alphonse and Zita Fleitman. Melvin would become the eldest of four siblings, those siblings would include two brothers Robert and Clarence, one sister Doris. Following the unexpected passing of their father Alphonse in 1957 the family would relocate to the town of Lindsay, Texas where Melvin would attend and graduate from Lindsay High School. In 1960, after graduation, he would enlist in the National Guard and become an active duty member in 1961. During his lifetime he would work for the MKT Railroad, General Dynamics, and Texas Instruments where he would retire after thirty-four years of service. In 1996 Melvin would marry Sharon Howard, who would precede him in death in 2021.

Melvin is preceded in death by his wife Sharon, his brother Clarence, and step-son Richard.

Melvin is survived by his sister Doris Martin of Gainesville, Texas, brother Robert Fleitman of Richmond, Texas, step-son Jim Frasier and wife Connie of Henderson, Nevada, step-daughter-in-law Sherry Frasier of St. Louis, Missouri, and two nieces and one nephew.

Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Church in Sherman, Texas. The family of Melvin Fleitman wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the medical staff of North Texas Medical Center and Pecan Tree Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gainesville, Texas.

    Melvin will be greatly missed. We worked for many years together at T.I. After retirement we would gather once a month with other friends, have coffee,cokes and donuts just to stay in touch. My sincere heartfelt sympathy to the family. Ronnie Brown
