Michael Tracy Shellnut, 59, of Sherman, passed away Friday, December 19, 2014, at his home, after a long battle with cancer. His family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, December 22nd, at Dannel Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 23rd in Dannel Memorial Chapel. Rev. Charles Stanley, of Georgia, will officiate. Interment will follow immediately afterward in Melissa Cemetery. Michael was born October 14, 1955, in McKinney. He was a truck driver for Liberty Sand and Gravel. His greatest love was time spent with his family. Mike's life was filled with love for people, and helping those in need, never expecting anything in return. All who met him immediately experienced his robust laughter and love for life. To be in Mike's presence was to be encouraged. Survivors include his loving wife, Lori Shellnut; son, James Shellnut; daughters Catherine Hogg, Diane Hawthorn, Jaime Womack and Marsha Chapin; brothers, Bobby Stanley, James Stanley, Ken Stanley, Charles Stanley; sisters, Linda Perry and Edna Menrod; thirteen grandchildren, and 50 nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
