Obituary For Missy M. Imbert
Martha Michelle Imbert, lovingly known as Missy, 78, of Sherman, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, reunited in heaven with those who went before her.
Missy was born on October 16, 1947, in Sherman, Texas. She graduated from Sherman High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education from Austin College, followed by a master’s degree in education from East Texas A&M University in Commerce.
Missy was, first and foremost, a caregiver, with a special place in her heart for children. She devoted her life to education and found great joy in shaping young minds. Over the years, she touched countless lives with her gentle guidance, wisdom, grace, positivity, and encouragement, serving as a constant source of inspiration to those around her. Her passion for education was evident to all who knew her—as a teacher, principal, mentor, friend, and “Mimi.” She was rarely out in the community without being warmly greeted—often with hugs and stories—by former students, a testament to the lasting impact she had on so many lives. Her life was defined by love, service, and an unwavering devotion to others.
Beyond her career, Missy had a deep love for travel and never missed an opportunity to explore new places or revisit favorite destinations with friends and family. In retirement, she especially cherished traveling with Chuck, creating lasting memories together and enjoying the adventures they had long looked forward to. She particularly loved the beach, where she spent time with her granddaughters—laughing, collecting seashells, and floating for hours on the ocean’s gentle waves, leaving footprints in the sand alongside them. Missy was a voracious reader and loved playing games, especially backgammon and chess—and anyone who sat across from her quickly learned that victories were earned, never given.
Missy is survived by the love of her life, Charles Dennis Imbert II, fondly known as Chuck, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, strength, and unwavering support. The two met in high school, beginning a story that would endure for nearly six decades. Family was always at the center of Missy’s life, and she treasured every opportunity to spend meaningful time with those she loved.
She is also survived by her children, Shelly Morgan and Charley Imbert (and his wife, Tina), and her five granddaughters—Haeleigh, Emalee, Natalie, Savanah Grace, and Isabella—whom she cherished deeply and to whom she devoted so much of her life. As “Mimi,” she was known for her warm smile and endless hugs and kisses, always making her granddaughters feel truly special and deeply loved, never missing an opportunity to celebrate, encourage, and show up for them at every stage of their lives. She also leaves behind the extended families of her two brothers, Toot and Rooster, with whom she shared many cherished memories and for whom she held a deep and abiding love, along with many dear friends and relatives who enriched her life.
Missy was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and John Billy Mathis, and her beloved niece, Misti Mathis.
A celebration of Missy’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, inspiration, and grace that lives on in the countless lives she shaped—a love that will forever surround her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
