Obituary For Myrtle Thomason

Myrtle (Gibson) Speck Thomason Myrtle (Gibson) Speck Thomason 89 of Sherman Texas passed away peacefully on Monday January 7th at Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ Hospital in Sherman TX. She was surrounded by her daughter Becky Speck Kidd of Farmer"¢s Branch Texas, her niece Rondi Lichtl of Highlands Ranch CO, and other family and friends. Funeral Service will be held at Western Heights Church Of Christ in Sherman TX at 12:00 p.m. on Friday January 11 2013. Dr. Jim McDoniel of the church will officiate. Interment will follow in Van Alstyne TX at the Van Alstyne Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday January 10 2013 at Dannel Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers are Ronnie Anglin Rodney Floyd Anthony Lichtl Otto Lichtl Jr. Brad Nass Scott Nass Michael Newman Trevor Richards Manuel Risco and Sean Webb. Honorary pallbearers are Trent Bass Charles McDaniel Ron Nass Gary Newman Gene Stone and Rich Thomason. Ushers are Bobby Hibbitts Jeremy Sharp and Jimmy Thomason. Ms. Thomason was preceded in death by her first husband of 53 years Claude Junior Speck and her second husband James Truitt Thomason. Also preceding her in death was her brother Allen Leon Gibson. Myrtle Speck Thomason was very involved for many years with the Order of the Eastern Star Carpenter Chapter as Grand Historian District 1 Grand Worthy Matron of the Magnolia Chapter in Houston TX. She was also on the board of the Sherman Historical Museum and board member of the Sherman Preservation League and a member of Exxon Annuitant Club of Dallas. Ms. Thomason supported local and national Republican elections and was recognized for her dedicated efforts including presidential campaigns of President George H. Bush and President Ronald Reagan. She was past precinct chairman of the Grayson County Republican party and a member of the Grayson Republican Women"¢s Club. She supported fellow senior citizens with her caring and wisdom along with supporting veteran associations. Myrtle dedicated her life to God her family and her friends. She is survived by daughter Becky Speck Kidd and many cousins nieces nephews and extended family and friends. Following interment at Van Alstyne Cemetery there will be a reception.
