Obituary For Opal Marie Nichols

Opal Marie Nichols, of Denison Texas went home to be with the Lord and to rejoin her beloved husband Nick, on Sunday April 9th, 2023. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday April 13th at Dannel Funeral home in Sherman. No graveside service is planned.

Opal was born Opal Marie Forrest in Sherman, Texas to Henry Forrest and Aline Campbell on December 30, 1926. Opal was employed by Texas Instruments and retired after 24 years. She was a member of the Central Christian Church of Sherman. Opal was a volunteer (Pink Lady) at Wilson N. Jones hospital accumulating more than 8500 volunteer hours and crocheted thousands of newborn caps for the nursery. She loved working in her garden and tending to her flowers. She fed any relative that showed up at her house and although she never played, she loved to watch golf on TV. Her last remaining days were spent at Traditions Senior Living in Sherman where she passed with family by her side.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husband Holmes L. Nichols, son Donald L. Nichols and sister Eleanor Mullins. She is survived by her son James H. Nichols and wife Victoria of Van Alstyne, grandson Brian K. Nichols and wife Des of Denison, granddaughters Khristy M. Mathers and husband Erin of Sherman and Alicia R. Elius and husband Raphael of Van Alstyne, along with several great and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
