Obituaries

Opal Milner, 89, of Denison, passed away Tuesday, September 9th at Texoma Medical Center. Her family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 11th at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 12th at Greater Life Church, 933 W. Lamar St. in Sherman. Rev. John Boone will officiate. Interment will follow immediately afterward in Gunter Cemetery. Opal was born August 5, 1925, in Ben Wheeler, TX, to Euley Henderson and Mary Muriel Perry Henderson. She married Charlie Westley Milner, Jr. in Sherman, TX, January 12, 1949. He preceded her in death on November 22, 1993. They were blessed with two children, Ben and Lisa. Opal was a housewife and mother at heart, but also worked outside the home as a bookkeeper for forty years. Charlie (Dub) worked in the construction field until they retired. They spent the best years of their lives, simply loving each other and enjoying their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the best parents and grandparents to their whole family. Opal spent weekends keeping her grandchildren even though her weeks were so busy working all the time. Her greatest joy in her later years was watching her great-grandchildren being born and loving them with all her heart. That love was greatly returned by all her family. She will be missed, but always in our hearts. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charlie Westley Milner, granddaughter Kirsten Morgan Barker and a great-grandson Joseph Hagan DeSellier. She is survived by her children: Ben Milner and wife Sherry of Sherman, and Lisa Barker and husband Melvin of Van Alstyne; grandchildren: Chuck Milner and wife Amy of Denison, Amy Milner of Tom Bean, Shelli DeSellier and husband Arthur of Colorado, Matthew Milner and wife Melinda of Valley View, Casey Carter of Van Alstyne, Jennifer Inman and husband Bryan of Sherman, and Kim Barker of Sherman; great-grandchildren: Alyson Milner, Jamison Milner, Gracie DeSellier, Connor DeSellier, Makenna Milner, Madalynn Milner, Landon Collum, Jessica Carter, Callie Carter and Bryan Inman, Jr.; brother Andrew Henderson; sisters Mary Catherine Castner and Ida Smith.
