Obituary For Owanna Geraldine Wright
Owanna Geraldine Wright of Farmers Branch, Texas, passed away at Baylor, Scott and White Hospital in Carrollton, Texas on Saturday, December 1, 2018, after a brief illness. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 5, at 11:00 AM at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman with Pastor Leland Samuelson officiating. The family will greet friends and family one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Owanna Geraldine Wright was born in Southmayd, Texas on February 9, 1932, to Lynn and Rena Grigsby. She attended Southmayd Schools, graduating in 1949, from Southmayd High School. She married Dewey Leonard Wright on August 30, 1952. The family moved from West Texas to New Mexico where they lived for many years before returning home to Texas in 1973. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Roswell, New Mexico. She worked in banking management for 40 years and then worked for the Carrollton/Farmers Branch School District for 10 years. Owanna was a hard worker, a devoted mother and wife, and she loved to cook and would try new ideas without hesitation. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Owanna is preceded in death by her husband Dewey L. Wright, her parents, Lynn and Rena Grigsby, sister Omie Carney, and brother Leon Grigsby. She is survived by 4 daughters: Robin Vaughn of Arlington, Texas, Suzan Schroeder and husband Donny of Beaumont, Texas, Debra Price of Whitesboro, Texas and Patty Wright Fannin of Farmers Branch, Texas; 6 grandchildren: Shannon Schroeder, Cody Schroeder, John Graham, Eric Vaughn, Aaron Price, and Courtney Unclebach; 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
