Patsy Gail Cravens Grigg, age 90, of Sherman, Texas, passed peacefully into Heaven on Sunday, January 25, 2026. The following words were written by her late beloved husband. They are a testament to the deep bond shared between Gail and Buddy Grigg.

“Daughter of two.
Wife for one.
Mother of five.
Grandmother for eleven.
Great grandmother of three.
Teacher of many.
Friend for all.

The Lord’s Plan for this life on Earth has been fulfilled. Now this soul shall have eternal life in Heaven among those friends and loved ones who have gone before, and those who choose to follow.”

Gail was born on November 26, 1935 in Dallas, Texas to Paul and Alice (Morrison) Cravens. She married her high school sweetheart, Norman Jack “Buddy” Grigg, on February 2, 1957 in Little Chapel in the Woods at Texas Woman’s University, Denton, Texas.

Gail graduated from Sherman High School in 1953 where she sang in the choir. She was also very active in her county 4-H Club, earning many awards both locally and state wide. Gail attended Austin College and Texas Woman’s University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1957. After joining Buddy in Germany, while he served in the Army, the two returned to Texas. Gail continued her educational quest at Texas A&M Commerce, earning a Master of Education degree. She went on to obtain her counseling certification at North Texas State University.

Gail devoted 20 years as an educator in Sherman ISD, where she taught pre-school, kindergarten, home-bound, and high school. She was a Grayson County 4-H Leader, and volunteered her time with Home Hospice, Sherman Ex-Student’s Association, and Children's Chorus of Greater North Texas, which she helped found. Gail was a long time member of Central Christian Church.

Gail and Buddy raised cattle and conserved native grasses on their ranch where they fostered a wildlife management program. The two of them shared a love of travel, camping, nature, and adventure with their family. Gail’s greatest joy was her family and friends, gathering often to share stories, song, laughter, and love.

Gail Grigg was preceded in death by her husband Buddy Grigg, her parents Paul and Alice Cravens, her brothers Bill and Danny Cravens, and her nephew Fred Grigg.

She is survived by her children:

Daughter Karen Bray and husband Bruce, daughter Sharon Kusmertz and husband Tim, son Tim Grigg and wife Rhonda, son Rex Grigg and wife Meily, daughter Deanna Jamison and husband Jason; her grandchildren Ashley Gibbs and husband Michael, Katelyn Kusmertz, Jacob Kusmertz and wife Cameron, Mallory Grigg, Jacklyn Grigg and husband Joseph Hitchcock, Maddie Jo Grigg, Kyla Grigg, Athens Grigg, Hallie Jamison, Jake Jamison and Nolan Jamison; her great grandchildren Elliott and Logan Kusmertz and Calvin Jack Grigg-Hitchcock; nieces Denise Taylor, Gena Cravens, Donna and Cindy Cravens, nephews Carl, Ritchie and Billy Cravens.

Family visitation will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas. Funeral services will follow at 3:30 p.m., officiated by dear family friend,Tim Baca. Burial will take place on Monday at 2:30 p.m., February 2, 2026, at West Hill Cemetery pavilion, Sherman, Texas. Arrangements entrusted to Dannel Funeral Home.
