Obituary For Peggy Cranfill

Peggy Wright Cranfill (1932 – 2014) Peggy Joyce Cranfill, of Amarillo, Texas died April 27, 2014 at Bivins Memorial Nursing Home of Amarillo. Services have been scheduled for 10:00 am, Friday, May 2nd at Dannel Funeral Home, Sherman, Texas. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Mrs. Cranfill was born July 20, 1932 in Sherman, Texas to Harry and Bertha (Bert) Wright. She graduated from Sherman High School – class of 1951. She was married to Lowell Franklin Cranfill in 1952 at Friendship Church. She spent most of her life in Sherman and Amarillo near family and friends. Mrs. Cranfill worked in healthcare as a medical stenographer the majority of her career including Wilson N. Jones Hospital (Sherman), St. Anthony’s Hospital (Amarillo), High Plains Baptist Hospital (Amarillo) and Essin Clinic (Sherman). After Peggy’s service to the medical industry ended, she continued to serve by being a caregiver for the general public. Peggy did this on a daily basis for many of the people in Sherman and the North Texas area. Peggy later moved to Amarillo, Texas to receive the care for herself that she had given to many others. Peggy was an extremely giving person, always putting others first. She was a generous and gracious lady, one who loved to cook and extend hospitality to all. Bundled with her medical talents Peggy was a wonderful home maker. Mending clothes, starching and ironing, at times she would make her own lye soap. Peggy would can vegetables and fruits for winter meals. She loved children and her favorite was her grandson Justin. Peggy is survived by two sons Kenneth Cranfill and wife Donna of Amarillo, Texas; Alan Cranfill and partner Jerry Williams of Houston, Texas; one sister, Mary Ruth Larabee of Sherman, Texas; two brothers, Dewey Wright and wife Owanna of Farmers Branch, Texas; Harold Wright of Sherman, Texas; one grandchild, Justin Cranfill and wife Elizabeth (Liz) of Amarillo, Texas; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Wright of Sherman, Texas; Jeannette Cranfill of Sherman, Texas; Zelma Brockman and husband Joe of Grand Prairie, Texas; and her former husband, Lowell Cranfill of Memphis, Texas. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Wright and father Harry Wright, mother and father-in-law, Noah Cranfill and Ada Cranfill; brothers, Allen (Teeny) Wright, H.C. (Booty) Wright; sister, Annie Laughlin and sister-in-law, Hazel Wright. Visitation is scheduled for 6:00 pm -7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1st at Dannel Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be nephews David Brockman, Rick Larabee, Jimmy Vandagriff , Joey Vandagriff, Brandt Wright, Jerry Wright, Perry Wright and Scotty Wright; and great nephews Michael Barker and Weldon Wright. The family suggests memorials be made to North Beacon Church of the Nazarene of Amarillo, Texas (by phone: 806.381.1080 or by mail: 1601 North Nelson Street, Amarillo, Texas 79107). A memorial service will be held at a later date in Amarillo, Texas at the North Beacon Church of the Nazarene (1601 N. Nelson St. Amarillo, Texas 79107, 806.381.1080) The family will be based at the Hampton Inn Sherman located at 2904 Michelle Drive (903.893.9333).
