When Phyllis was maybe 3 or 4, she would sit and watch our aunt Betty Jo combing her hair, primping and geting ready. One day, I think maybe after Betty Jo had scolded Phyllis, Phyllis was watching and said "Aunt Jo, 'yous' not Pretty!"

I have many fond memories of Phyllis, from our having dirty black feet from playing in that oily dirt by grandma's apartment in the Oleander, to laying on the pallets outside trying to identify the formations in the clouds, and going to the beach with her family to cook hotdogs as the sun began its descent and the temperature cooled. I also remember Phyllis being compared to a movie star, she was so pretty. Our aunt Betty Jo said Phyllis was as pretty, if not prettier than, Joey Heatherton. For me it hearing that was like knowing a movie star. That was the summer (1966) Phyllis and I shared our big adventure, going to our first rock concert to see James Brown. Afterwards I expressed surprise no one had asked for her autograph. . Phyllis quietly smiled and raised that infamous eye brow, letting me know it was their loss. As is so common with large families, when they move away, we are left with intentions that get lost in the crush as we start our own lives. We lose touch, but our bond, our memories as kids, always stays with us. Rest in peace Phyllis. I shall see you againnn the other side.

I remember my cousin, Phyllis, from when we were very young kids. Our parents and families were close in those early days and I remember we playing and laughing and fighting almost like we were siblings. Distance and time came to separate us but those memories have stayed with me. My heartfelt condolences to Phyllis's family. Your memories will keep her alive in your hearts and I pray you find peace knowing she is with God now.

she was a few years older than I am but I always thought she was so very pretty and feminine ...and sweet! when I was a little girl we would visit my grandparents, who lived block or so away from her family, and she was kind to me.
