Obituary For Raymond Edward Vaughn
Funeral services for Raymond Vaughn of Sherman, Texas, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 10, will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the Dannel Funeral Home Chapel in Sherman. Dr. Mike Lawson of First Baptist Church of Sherman will officiate along with Rev. Steve Rice. Raymond will be interred at West Hill Cemetery. Due to concerns over Covid, the service will be private for immediate family only.
Raymond was born in Gray, Oklahoma on December 31, 1933, to Raymond Franklin and Vera Hope Vaughn. He was raised and attended schools in Perryton, Texas, graduating in 1951. He attended Panhandle A&M and married the only love of his life Patsy Toney on July 30, 1953 in Clayton, New Mexico. Because Ray worked for Western Company in the oil servicing business, he and Pat moved to several states including, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Louisiana. They had three children: Michael, Edward, and Lisa. Ray retired after 37 years in 1992 and settled in Sherman.
Raymond loved to play golf. He played all over north Texas and he also loved his Oklahoma Sooners. Raymond is survived by his wife of 67 years, Pat; children: Michael R. Vaughn of Denison, Edward A. Vaughn and wife Andrea of Evergreen, Colorado, and Lisa Towles and husband Barry of Sherman; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Rozelle Wilson of Ft. Worth.
