Obituary For Reba Lois Gattis
Reba was born in rural Commerce, Texas to Mamie and Willie Fox on March 15, 1935.
She grew up with a lot of farm animals, but her dog was her best friend. In 1945, when Reba was 10 years old, her family family moved to the big city of Sherman. Reba was a little blonde headed country farm girl. Sher was so surpised to see a toilet and running water inside the house. She thought the city life was so great.
Reba attended Sherman schools. She grew up and met Robert Gattis. They decided to start a family. So, God blessed the couple with their first little girl, Patricia Lynn, she was born on September 22, 1951. Then, they were blessed again on January 21, 1954 with another little girl, Debra Kay. Then, after their little girls got a little older, Reba went to work at Penn Cleaners. Then, she worked at Evans Cleaners, until they closed.
But things changed, the house they were renting was sold. So, they had to move. Robert found a farm in the country. Reba got mad and said no way. But she gave in when she saw that there was a toilet inside the house, she said okay. So, on November 2, 1967, she moved back to the farm life. In 1972, Robert and Reba bought the farm and Reba went back to work. This time she went to Montgomery Ward. There, she retired in 1998 when Ward's closed.
Robert and Reba's two little girls grew up. Patti and Debbi married brothers and they had kids. And Robert and Reba became grandparents: Chad, Michelle, Scott, and Timothy. Then those grandkids grew and then, they became great-grandparents: Tyler, Lucas, Kennadi, Cinaha, and Pearl. And then, Tyler grew up and Reba became a great, great-grandmother: a little girl, Remi.
Robert and Reba were married for 72 years before she lost her husband on July 21, 2022. They had many happy yearts together. Reba was preceeded in death by her husband, Robert and her parents Willie and Mamie Fox, and her brother, Ray Fox.
She is survived by her two daughters, Patti Barrett, husband Steve, and Debbi Barrett, husband Mike. Four grandchildren: Chad, Scott, Michelle Holbrook, and Timothy, five great-grandchildren: Tyler, Lucas, Kennadi, Cinaha, and Pearl, and one great, great-granddaughter, Remi Leeann, and her best friend, Bud, the big black cat.
