Obituary For Reeda Able

Reeda Colleen Able, age 91 of Denison, Texas, passed away at her home, Saturday, March 24th, 2018. "Colley" was born October 8th, 1926, in Pine Mills, Texas, to Troy and Nobia Jaco. Following graduation from Sherman High School in 1944, she attended Austin College. She married Guy E. Able, December 23rd, 1945. They remained a loving and dedicated couple until his death in 1987. Colley was a loving mother and wife dedicated to her family and community, serving as an example that shaped those around her. She was the cornerstone of stability for her family as they moved six times in the first ten years of marriage, supporting Guy as he advanced in his career, becoming an executive with Montgomery Ward. In addition to the family devotion, she was tireless in mentoring and volunteering with the school for handicapped children in Lawton, Oklahoma and First United Methodist Church in Sherman, Texas. She was a member of the Sherman High School Ex-Students Association and "Lunch Bunch", the Golden Roos of Austin College, First United Methodist Church Ladies Lunch Group and numerous book clubs, as she was a voracious reader. Colleen is survived by her son, Guy E. (Eddie) Able, Jr.; Granddaughters: Alyssa Colleen Able, Laurie Miller and husband Jim, Melanie Beisch and husband Rusty; Great Grand Children Shawn and Keith Miller and Emily and Alec Beisch; Great Great Grand Son Bentley Miller; Niece Glenda Francis and husband Dennis, Nephew Troy Jaco and wife Emilie. Colley was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Nobia Jaco, husband Guy E. Able, sons, Terry K. Able and Frank G. Able, daughter in law Carol Able, brother Glenn Jaco and sister in law Mae Jaco. The family will greet friends at Dannel Funeral Home at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 29, 2018. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM. Joe Ed Goolsby of First United Methodist Church in Sherman will officiate, where Colleen was a member. Pallbearers will be Alec Beisch, Rusty Beisch, Troy Jaco, Dennis Francis, Keith Miller, and Jim Miller. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Sherman, Austin College, and the Sherman High School Ex-Students Association. Eddie, Alyssa and Family, Words cannot truly express what Cooley meant to me and my family. She always welcomed us kids in her home and treated each of us like your own. Our heart is heavy, but I know in my heart that she is re-united with Guy, Terry, Geter and Carol. I will miss you and your conversations, cards, voice and all the special times at your home. Love You with all my heart! ~ Jerry and Kathy Martinez, Yukon, Oklahoma
