Rene Jose Veliz (commonly known as “Joe”), age 59, of New Braunfels, TX, passed away on July 10, 2026 in Sherman, TX.

The ceremony celebrating his life will be held on July 18, 2026 from 10:00AM-12:00PM at Dannel Funeral home in Sherman, TX. Burial will follow, on the same day, at Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth, TX, at 2:30PM. Arrangements are by Dannel Funeral Home.

Rene Jose Veliz “Joe” was born in New Braunfels to Roberto and Sostenes on December 2, 1966. He had a strong love of music and was an amazing musician, mostly specializing in percussion. He was also fond of fishing, playing at the casino, spending time with his family and reading his bible. He had a very big, kind heart and always tried to see the good in everyone. As a father he was very patient and supportive in any way he could be, same as a grandparent. He will be deeply missed, not just by family, but anyone who knew him.

Rene Jose Veliz “Joe” is preceded in death by his father and mother, Roberto and Sostenes Veliz, and older brother Alfonso Veliz.

Rene Jose Veliz “Joe” is survived by: Daughter; Dominique Arielle Veliz. Older Sister; Rosa Martinez, and Older Brother; Esteban Veliz. Grandsons; Oliver Oppermann, Cloud Oppermann, and Sebastian Oppermann. Son in-law; Cordell Oppermann. Nieces; Jennifer, Felicia, Valerie, Kristy Ann. and Nephews; Jimmie, Alfonso Jr., Esteban Jr., Marcus.
