Mr. Richard Copeland, age 82, of Scurry, Texas, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, in Dallas, Texas, following a lengthy illness complicated by pneumonia.

Born on September 5, 1943, in Eustace, Texas, Richard was the son of the late Claude and Agnes Copeland. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Jerry Copeland and Sonny Copeland, and his sister Mary Wheeler.

Richard was the proud owner of East Texas Service Company for more than 40 years. He was known for his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to doing things the right way. Throughout his career, he took great pride in installing commercial kitchen equipment in restaurants across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica.

Beyond his work, Richard cherished life’s simple joys. He especially enjoyed Margie’s home-cooked meals, family gatherings, and a lively, competitive game of poker. He was also a fan of George Jones’ music and looked forward to his weekly Waffle House breakfasts with his twin brother, Jimmy.

Richard is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Margie Copeland; sons, Richard Copeland, Jr. (Glenda), Mark Murray, and Darrell Murray (Kathy); daughters, Tammie Copeland Miller and Michelle Copeland Kipina; his twin brother, Jimmy Copeland; sister, Ruby Ozment; grandchildren, Michael Murray (Kaylee), Melissa Schenkelberg (Eric), Elyza Copeland, and Paul Copeland; great-grandson, Gavin Murray; and many nieces and nephews. Richard will be remembered as a hardworking, loyal, and loving man who leaves behind a legacy of devotion to his family.
