Obituary For Richard Garner

Clark Richard “Rick” Garner, 78, of Denison, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2022, at Carrus Hospital in Sherman, Texas, surrounded by family.

Rick was born on May 19, 1943, in Denison, Texas, to Clark and Juanita “Nita” Garner. He was an Eagle Scout and one of the best hitters in the Pony League. After graduating from Denison High School in 1961, he attended Texas A&M University. He worked at Pillsbury before partnering in the family business, Clark Garner Television, with his father. In turn, his son also joined the business in the 80’s where they worked until Rick’s retirement in 2000.

Rick was an avid car enthusiast, and as a hobby, he loved buying, rebuilding and selling cars, including 38 Corvettes. His 1960 Corvette was the fastest in the area, winning several top eliminator trophies at drag strips around the Metroplex. He was also fascinated by the stock market and enjoyed trading in his spare time. He was a member of Parkside Baptist Church where his mother worked for many years. In 1998, he recommitted his life to Christ and was baptized.

Rick is survived by his loving wife Judith “Judy” Malolepszy Garner with whom he spent the past 33 years raising and doting on their precious fur babies. He loved his work, his wife, his kids and his Lord, Jesus Christ.

He is also survived by his two children: Lynn Garner McIntosh (husband Jeff) of McKinney, and Todd Garner (wife Tracy) of Denison; five grandchildren: Tiffany Garner Fairbrother (husband Luke) of Plano, Nicole McIntosh Callis (husband Kenneth) of McKinney, Taylor Garner of Denison, Toby Garner of Denison, and Trevor McIntosh of McKinney; and four great-grandchildren: Addison and Demi Jackson of Denison, Tatum Callis of McKinney, and Theodore Garner of Denison.

In addition, he is survived by his brother: James Garner (wife Mary Ann) of Georgia; his aunt: Thelma Garner McDonald of Irving; several nieces and nephews: Doug and Michelle Wells of Sherman, and Clay (wife Lauren) and Scott Garner of Georgia; and his best friend for life Don England of Denison.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents as well as his grandparents: Orville and Addie Garner; and Willis and Willie Mae Ballard.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 6th, 2022, at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas, with Doug and Michelle Wells officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The American Heart Association or the SPCA.

Lynn, I am so sorry for your loss. Your dad was an awesome guy. Very friendly and would do anything for you. I remember back in the day late 70's, we used to shoot pool together at George & Ellie's Village Inn in Sherman (where City Limits is now). My friends and I were in high school but Rick kept us out of trouble and off the streets talking to us, playing pool and video games. God bless Rick and your family.

When we come to the end of life's journey and unable to meet again; until we gather in heaven's bright city, far away in that beautiful land. I will look forward to that opportunity! To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides. May love never die! May God Bless My Big Brother Rick! Love, Jim, Mary Ann and Scott Garner
