Obituary For Richard Samuel Chrisman

Richard Samuel Chrisman, 65, of Tioga, passed away on Monday, July 18th, 2022, in Tioga, TX.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00p.m. on Wednesday, July 27th, 2022, at Dannel Funeral Home, 302 South Walnut St, Sherman, TX.

Richard was born in Spokane, Washington on June 24th, 1957, and raised all along the Texas Panhandle region. He graduated with his Associates Degree in Electronics and worked as a Phone Install-man for Southwestern Bell / AT&T for most of his adult life before retiring for health reasons related to a motorcycle accident from his youth.

Richard would not want people, in his words, “fiddledicking around” (Richardism- Verb, Defintion: To Waste Time/Mess Around. See also “Fiddlefartin’”) being sad. He would want people to have a cup of coffee (or a whole pot, if you wanted to keep up with him) and a laugh. Richard would often spend his time outside, a cup of coffee in hand, chicken in his lap, and sheep a-plenty by his side, enjoying the quiet simplicity of nature. He'd likely ask you to do the same, if you wanted to honor his memory (you will have to supply your own sheep and chickens, though).

Not one for formality, Richard would want you to show up in whatever you find comfortable that doesn’t have last night’s dinner stains on it. And honestly, he wouldn’t care if it was stained. His laid-back nature made it easy for him to make friends everywhere he went and with a language all his own, he was usually able to garner plenty of laughs along the way.

Richard is preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Chrisman and his father, Eldred Chrisman. He is survived by his wife, Deborah, his daughter, Alisha, son in law Brandon and granddaughters Summer and Autumn, and his son, Lane Chrisman.

In lieu of flowers, vegetables will be laid out in honor of his love of gardening. With his generous spirit in mind, please feel free to take some of them home and enjoy.

I had so much fun when Chrisman was at the Aubrey CO and he let me go up in the bucket truck!! I enjoyed every time he came into the McKinney Engineering Dept or later when I worked at the frame McKinney CO. Always made us laugh, even if it 110 degrees out or freezing when he came in. May God be with his family.
