Obituary For Ricky Russell

Born September 17, 1954 in Odessa, Texas to Henry Lee Russell and Mary Helen Russell. Ricky passed away on Wednesday, August 1st at his home on Lake Texoma. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Lee, Mary Helen, and stepfather Leroy Vickrey as well as his brother Charles David Russell. Grandparents who also preceded him in death include Elmer and Esther Russell from Point Enterprise, Texas, Edne and Eula Allen, Will and Lola Vickrey all from Mexia, Texas. Dannel Funeral Home has charge of cremation arrangements. Ricky is survived by his brother from Irving, Lewis Russell and wife Shirley and three step-brothers, Richard Vickrey from Tennessee, Michael Hall and Steven Hall from Texas. Ricky has two sons, Martin Russell and wife Jenny from Keller, son David Russell from Fort Worth and daughter Lauren Russell from San Antonio. Grandchildren include Rylee and Reid Russell, who he loved dearly. He had one nephew, Jeff Russell of Canton, Texas and a niece, Julie Mosty of Flower Mound, Texas. He had a host of family and friends who loved him and will miss him greatly. Ricky lived and grew up in Irving and was a graduate of Nimitz High School where he was involved in Naval ROTC, sports and served as the school mascot. He was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church in Irving and sang in the church choir as well as many other church activities. His work career included a lengthy career with the City of Dallas, where he was recognized for his many accomplishments. After many years with the City of Dallas, he retired and found time to enjoy spending time with his grandchildren along with his favorite pastime, fishing.
