Obituaries

Robbi Lyn Reed Barnes gained her angel wings on Friday, August 28, 2026 after a brief stay in the hospital. Robbi was born on November 19 (or 20th depending who you ask), 1952 in Gainesville, Texas to Glenda Couch Reed and James Edward Reed.

A graveside service will be held at 9 am on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas with Andy Barnes officiating. A celebration of life will be held from 6:30-8:30 pm on Friday, September 4, 2026 at The Venue on Main in Denison, Texas (519 W. Main)

Robbi lived a fulfilling life as a mother, grandmother, sister/sissy boo, daughter-in-love, aunt and a nurse, all positions she cherished. Her favorite moments were those spent preparing and sharing in family meals and holidays. During her time as a nurse, she came to love caring for the elderly and retired while working for Traditions Assisted Living Facility in Sherman. She was loved by her staff and patients and considered it a second home, ensuring that all those who lived there or worked for her felt like family as well.

Robbi had a wonderful sense of humor and never failed to make a joke at her own expense. She loved to scuba (ask us about the tattoo later), play the piano, listen to The Carpenters at Christmas, and ask if the dressing at Thanksgiving and Christmas needed more sage. This quickly became a family joke and at almost every meal thereafter if anything tasted “off,” it simply needed more sage. She loved to cook “Old Oklahoma Recipes” and warn us of all the things Uncle Paul did to keep us from losing an eye. She loved to tell of dancing with Mr. Peppermint with her dad and seeing Elvis before he was famous.

Robbi was preceded in death by her parents, Glenda Couch and Jim Ed Reed, grandparents, Earnest and Cali Couch and Norma and Austin Reed, brother, Ricky, Father in Love Delmar Barnes, and beloved son, Aaron. She is survived by her children, Kacy Kupper of Little Elm, Leslie Jackson and Ricky Roberts of Sherman, Melissa and Brad Baldwin of Whitewright; grandchildren, Madilyn and her husband Sean, Jackson, and Kellyn, sister, Jaymie “DD” Reed, nephew Micheal, mother-in-love Frankie Barnes, brother-in-love Andy and wife Kathy and nephews, Stephen (and family) and Stuart.

She is now free of pain and dancing once again.
